Abus 88/40 Cutaway Lock
The disc detainer format, cut open and machined to collector grade.
Disc detainer locks behave nothing like pin tumblers, and seeing one operate under load makes that immediately clear. This CNC-machined cutaway of the Abus 88/40 keeps the lock fully functional while putting the entire disc stack and sidebar locking mechanism on display. The ball bearing mechanism is visible too. All cutaway work was performed in the USA, so the machining is precise - no sloppy cuts, no raw edges, no inferior base lock to start from.
Collector-grade as a display piece. Teaching-grade as a demonstration tool. Both at once.
